The Paleo diet, or Paleolitic diet refers to the food eaten by Paleolithic humans. The followers of this diet believe that us humans we are adapted to the diet of those times and that human genetics have changed but very little since earlier days. This is why some people call this the caveman diet. Thus, it is said to be a good fit for people not eating the highly processed food that we are having to eat these days.

The Paleo diet comprises grass-fed raised meats, vegetables, eggs, fish, fruit, roots, fungi and nuts. Dairy products, potatoes, grains, legumes, refined salt and sugar and processed oils are avoided in this diet. Following this diet can prove very healthy for people that want to stay away from GMO, genetically modified food and stay with food grown organically.

Follow These Simple Rules

If you are using paleo diet for weight loss then be sure to follow some rules. Firstly, keep your food simple but healthy. A protein like fish or meat, lots of green vegetables, some root vegetables for the carbohydrates and some healthy fat. This is not a fad diet but it is more of a healthy way of life.

It is also important to eat enough food, no starving yourself. Do not deprive your body of the calories needed to function properly which can cause some stress to your body. Cutting back too much on your calorie intake may lower your metabolic rate which is something you do not want to happen. Eat enough carbohydrates to support your level of physical activity. If you are relatively sedentary, sit around a lot and not exercise, then eat lesser amount of carbohydrates to help you shed weight a little faster.

It also important that you move around all day. Being sedentary loses your chances of taking advantage of your exercise program. There are many ways to increase your movement throughout the day. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Even while sitting at your desk at work, do leg and arm exercises. Walk to the nearest café for lunch rather than driving there. If possible, cycle to work rather than using your car.

Key To Successful Weight Loss

Lastly, it is important to have people around you that support you in the efforts of losing weight. These may be your family members, friends and even fellow people who are looking to lose weight through the paleo regime. Having a wife or husband that supports you and is willing to help you with your diet is a big help. A compliment can go a long way in making you want to look good for your mate. Good luck!

I hope you find my short video of the caves at Luray Caverns in Virginia interesting. I had a great time there. Think about living in a cave and what a caveman would eat? Can you imagine what they ate back in those days. There are probably some people in some countries that still eat like a caveman. If you are doing this diet please leave a comment and let us know how you are doing on the Caveman diet.
